Scarborough Building Society is helping put a spring in the step of Bridlington families this Easter, with a donation to the local branch of Home-Start, one of the UK’s leading family support charities.

The cash – donated by the Society’s Bridlington branch – will be used by the charity to put on an Easter themed party for local families, complete with chocolate Easter eggs and a Punch & Judy show for entertainment.

Kathy Lodge-Taylor hands over chequeBranch Manager Kathy Lodge-Taylor handed over a cheque for £500 to the charity.

She said: ‘We are really proud to be associated with such a worthy cause and are pleased to be sponsoring the Home-Start Bridlington & Driffield Easter get together.

‘The Society has been supporting the scheme for a couple of years now through its Family Saver account, and this gift is another great way for us to build on this relationship.’

Scarborough has selected Home-Start UK as one of its nominated good causes, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. As well as ad hoc national donations, it hands over £1 to the charity for every Family Saver account opened at each of its branches, including Bridlington, subject to an annual minimum of £500.

Francine Tyler, manager of the Bridlington and Driffield Home-Start scheme, said: ‘Our Easter party is a great chance for our families to get together and celebrate the start of the holidays with a fun event that involves everyone.

‘It promises to be a great day, so thank you to Scarborough for helping us to make it a special occasion.’

This year, Home-Start Bridlington & Driffield has helped many local families with young children who are struggling to cope. Supported by volunteers,-led the organisation helps with a variety of issues, ranging from social isolation to money problems and post-natal depression.
