Scarborough Wraps Up Christmas For Local Kids
Press release published on 7 December 2007 by Scarborough Building Society
Scarborough Building Society’s is asking local people to help to brighten up the festive season for a local child by buying an extra gift this Christmas and donate it to the branch’s appeal. And, to kick off the campaign, the Society, based on Albion Street, has bought £200 worth of toys to add to the pile.
All gifts collected will be donated to Home-Start Leeds, part of the UK’s leading family support charity, and will be going to local children who will appreciate an extra gift during the festive season.
To give people the time to donate, the branch will be open until 7pm on a Thursday, to coincide with late night shopping the city. There will even be an onsite Christmas present wrapping service available for customers during the evening and on Saturdays.
Branch manager Luanne Hood said: ‘Christmas is such an expensive time for families and we hope that this appeal will bring some smiles to some faces this Christmas!
‘We have been supporting Home-Start for the past two years now, in conjunction with our Family Saver account. Although the charity mainly deals with children up to the age of five, many families have older children, so we want to cater for all ages and help whole families get the Christmas they deserve.
‘We all know that Home-Start is such a worthy cause which supports local families. And, as we are also offering the incentive for customers to have other gifts wrapped when they pop in to see us, I hope that the people of Leeds get behind this campaign.’
Gifts can be handed into the branch on Albion Street any time from today until 17 December. For more information please call the branch on 0113 246 0818.
