Newby Branch

Charity Begins At Home This Christmas

Press release published on 14 December 2007 by Scarborough Building Society

Scarborough Building Society is set to brighten the festive season for Scarborough children this Christmas, with a donation of gifts to local community centre, The Rainbow Centre.

Newby Branch Manager Andrew Carter and Senior Customer Advisor Daniella Jordan will be handing over the gifts at The Rainbow Centre, making sure the children have something extra to unwrap on Christmas Day.

Andrew said: ‘We are really proud to be associated with such a worthy cause and are pleased to be helping out The Rainbow Centre this Christmas.

‘We know that this time of year is very expensive for families, so it’s nice to get behind The Rainbow Centre and help local families on their way to enjoying the kind of Christmas they deserve.’

Newby branch, on Coldyhill Lane, has selected The Rainbow Centre as its charity of the year, in line with the Society’s Corporate Social Responsibility commitment. The centre will receive a donation of £1,000 over the year, as well as being the recipient of any fundraising activity within the branch and volunteering days from staff.

John Wells, Chairman of The Rainbow Centre added: ‘Many of the families we support have financial concerns, so Christmas can be quite a stressful time of year and we would like to thank Scarborough donating some of the gifts today.

‘We hope our families will now enjoy the festive season knowing they have the support and help they need.’
