Terms & Conditions

  1. The product Terms and Conditions together with these generic terms and conditions, those contained in the Scarborough Building Society General Investment Conditions, the operating your account section, the customer information section and the Scarborough Building Society Memorandum and Rules set out the contractual relationship between Scarborough Building Society (‘the Society’) and you the member.
  2. Our savings account tariff specifies any charges related to our accounts and their operation.
  3. Any reference in these Terms and Conditions to the Bank of England base rate is to the repo rate decided by the Monetary Committee of the Bank of England from time to time.

Membership

This is a share account and on opening the account, the account holder(s) will become an investing member(s) of the Society, in accordance with its Rules.

Telephone Access Conditions

Telephone access using Investments Direct is only available for use in accordance with 'Operating Your Account By Telephone' Condition contained in the General Investment Conditions.

Operation (including all enquiries, administration and servicing) of this account via Investments Direct can be arranged by telephoning 0845 634 3760 between 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. Saturday.

Proof Of Identity

Customers opening an account through Investments Direct, using our online application screens, will be asked to provide evidence of proof of identity/address within the application screens. However, if you are unable to provide the details requested you may submit other forms of identification, please read the proof of identity section of our customer information further details.

Customers planning to open an account in one of our branches may find the proof of identity section of our customer information useful for ensuring you take the right proof of identity/address documents in with you.

Existing customers should not usually need to submit any further identity/address documents. However, if you have not transacted on your account for a long time or if your circumstances have changed then it may be necessary for us to obtain up to date proof of identity.
