If you think you know the answers to the questions above, you might want to take a look Scarborough's new personal finance education resource, the ‘Young Finance Manager’ computer game - complete with its pfeg Quality Mark seal of approval.

In response to Government's increasing push to prepare the next generation to avoid the debt levels which characterise today's buy-now, worry later society, Scarborough created the game, and supporting materials, to assist teachers in providing effective support to students.

To make sure the resource is up to date and relevant, we have been working with local teachers, NYBEP and pfeg, throughout the research and design process to ensure the game meets their needs.

Developed in line with our new Corporate Social Responsibility Policy's Financial Education strand, the game uses terms and situations which occur in real life, giving today's teenagers a early insight into the opportunities and pitfalls of personal financial management.

In addition to the development of the resources themselves, we are planning to make the educational experience more real through the Society's volunteering programme. This will see members of staff from across the business helping to introduce the game in schools and sharing their professional and personal knowledge with students, to bring what is seen as a ‘boring’ subject to life.
