With roots going back 163 years in Scarborough, our branch network now spans Yorkshire, the North East, Lincolnshire and the East Midlands. However, while our business has changed dramatically over the years, our values remain the same. We are a modern, vibrant, innovative organisation which has expanded far beyond being ‘just’ a building society.

Determined to play an active role in the lives of our heartland communities, each branch works hard to form beneficial relationships with deserving organisations locally.

In addition to the £1 donation given to a designated local charity for each Family Saver account opened (subject to an annual minimum donation of £500), each branch also has a budget of £1,000 to give to its chosen good cause, or causes, annually. Local organisations are invited to apply for a share of this funding, which can also be boosted by volunteering support, under the Society's Agreed Staff Volunteering Time commitment.

All of our branches currently donate their Family Saver cash to their local branch of the Home-Start UK family support charity, while organisations currently benefiting from the £1,000 discretionary branch donations including the Zoe's Place children's hospice in Middlesbrough and the Daisy Appeal in Hull.
